28 AprHow to call your occupation, developers for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad

Since the new device released we’re returned to the question of naming our occupation. The most popular, simple, short and understandable was an iPhone developer. How much time I read and heard that.

The reason i don’t ever like it is that does not reveal the whole meaning. It’s not associated with iPod Touch, which exactly wins two first generations of iPhone device, IMHO.

The next step was to call your-self a Cocoa Touch developer or Objective-C developer, one another is not better. There is a obvious issue – only technicians could know what that means :) and even so, it’s more commonly associated with UIKit and seems more limited, by feeling.

Now there is an actual family of devices – iPod touch, iPhones and iPads. There are two common things for all: apple and iPhone OS. Since an Apple developer is associated with MacOSX, there is only one right name, fully reflecting the sense, – IPHONE OS DEVELOPER.

I’ve titled my profession so more than a year ago on my LinkedIn account and use it till something extraordinary will happened, e.g. Touch OS, an operating system erasing distinctions between MacOSX iPhone OS. Everythings changes.

UPD: my friend said that iPhone OS developer sounds like I did an iPhone operating system. No, I didn’t develop the OS, so I am still searching for the best name.
